About The Artwork
Still working with the myth of Persephone, you see her wandering the earth. Build up out of the same colors of the earth around her. Although the feel of abandonment with a hint of melancholia should be present, the fiery red colors should indicate the energy and powers are not decreased by this state. The painting is painted on MDF material and finished with polyurethane which gives it a glossy appearance

Erik Batstra, born in The Hague, the Netherlands in 1963 is a practicing artist with a history of art making for the last two decades. In 1997 Erik moved to Indonesia where he worked and lived until 2012. After Indonesia Erik has been working and living in Bangkok, Thailand until 2015, before moving back to the Netherlands. Erik has been involved with studio practice as well as an educator of the visual arts after graduating from the Academy.
