Edward Hopper said: "If I could say it in words there would be no reason to paint.” – "What overlasts" is a painting in mixed media (acrylic, collage, sand and ashes), created in the Corona year 2020. A time when our world stood still for a short time, when many people lost their loved ones or feared for them. And we were all only able to maintain a few contacts for a long time. My art remained as a comforting anchor. And a question that arises at such a time: what overlasts all this, in uncertain times, without all the beautiful and wasteful distractions of our lives. And then what is left of us? This artwork, as part of a series of works from that time, gave me an answer and at the same time a confidence to trust that there will be a tomorrow. So I can present the work here today, not only as a personal memory to this time, but also to the hope of finding a way back to what we call normality. Hope and confidence that strengthened me and that has been confirmed. A complex painting with many layers, with a profound and nostalgic aura. The lightweight canvas can be hung directly on the wall or framed as you like.

I am an abstract painter from Germany. I paint and draw in mixed media on canvas, paper and other surfaces. My paintings are an emerging process, usually beginning with lots of colour, exploring concepts of layering, transformation and ethereal qualities, towards a state of calm, lightness. The world out there is often noisy and restless and life is not always a happy place. We have a lot in our minds. There is this longing for rest, relaxation and harmony, at least in our homes. I hope that my work will give people a moment of pause, awareness and maybe a little joy. More at
