A large contemporary oil on canvas painting which is an earlier work created in 2007. Part of a sequence of paintings that examined the criteria that govern how our natural environment appears to us, with considerations on how humans might gauge an element to be in a prime and definitive state. I wanted to secure that psychological irritation in an image. Here, I’m aware of clarity fused with the complication of haziness and obscurity. The clear horizontal is disturbed by blurred vertical curvature. Human interference and control is echoed with the possibility of image manipulation i.e., choice of cut-off points, which could alter and soothe the awkwardness but would only create the typical. I aimed to convey the image in this less distinguishable state and claim that it is as worthy and equal in purity and content to a more familiar and agreeable image of water, but visually it differs, and is simply subject to external reasoning. This results in effects such as air agitation and shape, colour and light reflection, and the allowed percentage of coverage of variants in its portrayal. Please note; This painting is for sale rolled-up in protective packaging for shipping and would need to be re-stretched on to wooden supports in order to be displayed on a wall.

British artist based in France. I’m an oil painter artist that reflectively analyses and displays natural elements, highlighting the observed extents, differences and less distinguishable. My paintings are images of natural components, with considerations of the unseen, the innate and the acquired. Certain qualities attract me to paint an image and this combined with my sensibilities and my own preference to withdraw from some of the customary, initiates my art. I produce both large canvases and comparatively smaller ones, depending on what the image necessitates. I paint and simultaneously evaluate an image, analysing and displaying reactions and consequences, which often result in visually concentrated representations, in either a raw or a more refined manner. Reflecting on my art as it has evolved, I recognise some inextricably linked underlying themes. Studying prime and definitive states, experiencing exclusion and reward, musing on the emotional and spiritual and an exploration into the unable to grasp and wordless, often became inadvertently cross-referenced. My art is a culmination of considerations, sensitivities and chain of scenarios and I hope my images capture and convey an air of relative sensation that has become an important experience for me. A number of my paintings have been sold to private collectors internationally and having lived in London for many years I now live in France.
