My abstract impression works are made by casting single lines of ink one after the other in the same motion as ripples of water. Over 1,000 casts were made from 15 bottles of acrylic ink to eventually create this single ocean wave. Droplets were used to make the foam and sprays. An enjoyable battle ...

London based abstract artist Courtenay Kusitor creates bold, intuitive paintings that explore how we experience consciousness. Her work invites viewers into a space of awareness, perception, and presence. Trained in Visual Communication at the University for the Creative Arts (UK), she combines impressionistic sensation with expressionistic movement, using vibrant colours and spontaneous mark-making. In 2013, a head and spinal injury that left her unconscious changed her sense of life and time, sparking a deep interest in what it means to be conscious. This turning point continues to shape her practice, driving her to explore how inner states, moments of clarity, and patterns of thought can be expressed visually. Influenced by psychology, neuroscience and spirituality, her paintings become an open, intuitive conversation about perception and what it means to live fully in the present. Courtenay’s work has been shown across London at major fairs and galleries, including The Other Art Fair and the Women in Art Fair at The Mall Gallery, reflecting her active role in the city’s creative community. Internationally, she is represented by Azart Gallery in New York, and her paintings are held in private collections in the UK, USA, South Korea, and the UAE. She has been featured in Saatchi Art’s “Undiscovered Artists to Know,”. She has recieved online recognition from Pulitzer Prize winning art critic Jerry Saltz - further affirming her growing presence as a contemporary abstract artist.
