This piece is part of the series of handwoven textiles which feature an encoded design based on a song that I learned around a campfire many years ago: “We are the Weavers We are the Woven Ones We are the Dreamers and We are the Dream”. The meaning behind this speaks to how we are all part of the larger fabric of life, and yet also active participants in it. While there are forces behind our control that shape our lives, we also are creating our own realities by choosing how we use our energy and respond. Featuring hand dyed cotton and linen yarns, bamboo, wooden beads, and a carnelian stone, this woven design is fascinating as it is powerful. A special and tactile addition to any space. Mounted on a bamboo dowel and ready for hanging. Skeins of yarn and wooden beads are hanging from the bamboo dowel and may need adjusting to hang straight after shipping.

LITA LOVESTONE is a weaver and textile artist based in Costa Rica. She creates her intricate handwoven designs on a floor loom using hand dyed natural yarns. A weaver with 20 years of experience, she is currently pushing the boundaries of traditional weave structures with her own visionary approach and style. She completed a 4 year Master Weaving Certificate at the Hill Institute in Massachusetts and has pursued her passion for weaving even as she lived aboard a tiny sailboat for 2 years. Her current body of work explores an evolution of a traditional technique from colonial America called “code drafting”, in which a name or phrase is converted into a numeric code which then becomes the basis for the woven design. In this complex design process, Lita creates a geometric pattern which holds the intention and energy of words like a secret message embedded into the weaving. As an art form nearly as old as civilization itself, Lita views weaving as an ancient form of alchemical magic. This thread of connection to something ancient and yet tangibly present fuels her inspiration. In this modern world of cookie-cutter consumption, she feels a driving force to counteract the meaningless mass production with quality hand made textiles filled with intention and layers of meaning in every step of the process. Each piece is made entirely by hand and represents countless hours of intention, design and craftswomanship. In addition to fine handwoven wall art, she has a custom line of art to wear clothing under the name PrettyPosa Designs.
