Buy direct at bruesselbach.square.site Janet was raised by optical physicists near Los Angeles in the 1980s and 90s, and now lives and works in Queens, New York City. It started oil painting young, focusing early on figuration, and inspired by science fiction literature. Its work melds human intimacy celebrating diverse personalities with radical relationships to technology, particularly exploring queer experience. Janet's strengths are in portraiture, oil paintings as artifacts of live sittings that transform the subject as they want to be seen, and it is open to commissions. It also incorporates and generates elements of organic abstraction and psychedelic imagery, as in Paleofacture, an exploration of evolutionary history and the permeable boundary between natural and artificial. Janet made a child in 2022 who is also an ongoing labor of creation. Its newest project is Analog Imagination, in which surreal paintings are based on verbal prompts submitted through its website.
