Eurasian Magpie (Pica pica), ubiquitous and common across much of Eurasia: a bird that has adapted to humanized habitats very successfully... unlike many other less fortunate more specialist species. Like many birdwatchers, I have a sort of love-hate relationship with magpies: they are undeniably striking, but they're professional nest-raiders and egg-stealers. Alkyd oils on canvas, 50x50 cm.
