ABOUT THE ARTWORK
One from a series I do about goddesses and female icons. I am working to be inclusive across cultures and I am slowly expanding to include as many cultures as I can. White Buffalo Woman is a goddess and icon of the Lakota Sioux. She has been a powerful and supportive female figure in that culture. Representing harmony, balance, hope, and abundance, she seems a good choice for this body of work. The seven circles represent the 7 values given by White Buffalo Woman to the Lakota; they are red to represent blood and loss. The overall image is meant to acknowledge and honour her legacy.
