These Rope Paintings were inspired in fact from Richard Tuttle's "3rd ROPE PIECE of 1974" I had always been fascinated by a simple piece of rope as art. It's a very conceptual-dada type thing and he's very good at it. I had a vision of what his rope art might look with my painting. So the next day I went to the store and bought 3/4" standard rope, chopped it into 5 equal sizes, dropped them in a vat of acrylic medium so the work would be preserved in the acrylic. Then I set about painting them. These are a singular work in 5 parts. It's not for sale. Each Rope Painting is attached with a single neo-magnet embedded into the back of each painting, they magnetically attach to a screw in the wall. These are the development from that evening and what it has blossomed into. More to come, bigger, longer and more abrasive. Thanks for viewing! Jeffrey Collins
