ABOUT THE ARTWORK

A lyrical work on paper, loosely depicting a horse charging into a garden. This is on Yupo paper, a wonderful surface made from bamboo, somewhat slick, completely archival. The painting has gestural dibbles of paint that are abraded, painted over, there are numerous marks and soft blooms of color. It is a very complex but immediately appealing piece. This is a story about an event that happened near me, no real damage was done to the garden, the horse had a wonderful time and was happy to return back to his stall.

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I was trained as a printmaker but now am almost exclusively a painter, non-representational, color driven and expressive. My work intentionally is process driven, calculated and methodical. I am always interested in the edges, the quiet areas that one notices later, after the impact of the color has receded. I use a lot of metal leaf usually with patinas, glossy acrylic mediums and matte texture aggregates are all part of my arsenal, not a lot of rulers or tape or months of contemplation. It is active and messy in my studio, loud and yet quiet.....a stream is behind the studio, 2 rivers across the field and dog and cat are always present. They all contribute in their way. All my colors are complex, tertiary or beyond. I never work from photographs, I just like to look a little longer....I look a lot at the sky, the clouds and their effect on above and below, and what lies between. My studio is in a converted 5 stall dairy barn in the foothills of the Berkshires, surrounded by wind, water, wonder and wildlife. I am also the founder/owner of a small gallery called Echo in Shelburne Falls, MA. Among other fine institutions, I am in the permanent collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. I exhibit and teach internationally, and am inspired locally. I paint every day (unless I am at a show), and it is evidently the best thing to do in life. I feel blessed and obsessed.
