About The Artwork
I was painting flowers in a plein air event at The Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens when a woman walked up and commented on the print pattern of the Kleenex box next to my palette: "That pattern is almost as pretty as your painting...which should be a new Kleenex box design!" Another person later walked up and asked what type of flower I was painting. I told her I had no idea. "I believe those are Widow's Tears," she said. There's my title - created by passerby! The painting is on a 2" cradled Aquabord panel. The surface is treated with an archival varnish. No glass, no reflections. Hardware is attached and the artwork is ready to hang.

I am a Florida painter who concentrates in the medium of watercolor. My work exemplifies the characteristics of the medium including fluid washes, mingling color, preserving the white of the paper, and granulating pigments. My paintings celebrate light and color and, hopefully, engage the viewer visually. Over half of my work is completed outside of the studio - en plein air - and watercolor is a perfect travel companion for its portability and quick drying time.
