This is an an original painting of a mottlecah flower, a native wildflower from Western Australia from the macrocarpa eucalyptus tree. I came across this flower while walking through Kings Park in Perth and was so amazed at its grace and quirkiness that I was inspired to paint it to keep it alive. The Australian bush and flowers are unique, magnificent, beautiful and a little wacky all at the same time - this is why I love them.

The focus of Sigrid's main body of work is on flowers and plants, many being Australian natives. Flowers are used in most cultures to symbolise major milestones in our lives and Sigrid extends this by using flowers as the conduit of her social narrative and observations of things that are important to her,, There is a particular focus on social equity, diversity, the environment and the need to learn more about ancient Aboriginal knowledge to work together and heal our lands and support thriving communities. Inspiration: Georgia O'Keeffe, Margaret Preston, Margaret Ollie, Ben Quilty and Yayoi Kusama.
