About The Artwork

These wild flowers to celebrate your birthday! I love painting flowers, beauty and strenght, reminding us of hope as well as vanity. And I love exploring colors, searching or inventing new harmonies to bring spirit in your house. This artwork is part of a series of landscapes and wildflowers, in different sizes, painted in 2020, to celebrate natures joy. Painting on cardboard refers to the French artistic movement Supports/Surfaces. I like the aspect of rendering the materials visible. First layer with pigments and marble powder, than high quality Oil painting, you will see how the relief captures the light and intensifies the colors. The painting comes with a wooden frame, ready to hang.

A painter in Provence and in Burgundy, her subject are landscapes between figurative and abstract. Although contemporary, her research follows the tradition of the “Maîtres Provençaux”, Cezanne, Chabaud, de Staël, Matisse, Picasso. Colorist, she is listening to the harmony of nature, evocating beauty beyond representation – as an architect, she organizes the space by lines of forces and order, inspired by German Expressionists. You will find plein-air aquarelles and drawings from famous sites like Sainte-Victoire or Ménerbes, as well as works on paper or canvas. Preparing the colors herself, using natural colors, pigments, ochres, gives her work a unique tactile character. "The mainstay of my work is in genesis, where the visible and invisible create the world. I don't try to reproduce or represent the retinal image. If my work begins in front of nature, in front of the subject, it's to listen. From this starting point I begin to work with color. From space and lines, abstractions are born.” “Now, when people look at my paintings in exhibitions or my gallery, I can sometimes see their spontaneous reaction. They feel like me when I was painting, discovering their silent power inside. This is my satisfaction and what I want to achieve with my work. Making the possibilities of beauty visible.” Using various techniques, Hartman paints with oil, watercolours and ochre pigments (from Roussillon). The legacy of famous artists, including Cézanne, Delacroix, Liebermann, Monet, and Rubens inspires her. Provence’s colourful abstract landscapes dominate Hartmann’s work. However, her spiritual journey rises to the surface with her Credo series.
