About The Artwork

Winner Medal is a mixed media painting by UK artist Michael Tierney. His work takes inspiration from the hyper-colourful fantasy worlds and creatures within video games such as Super Mario and Zelda. The painting contextualises the battles we fight within our visually over stimulated brains - keeping up with rolling news coverage and social media. Michael views the beasts in this series of paintings as modern day talismans and protectors.
