This an original oil painting with a moody, vintage feel of a beautiful woman holding a glass of wine at a dimly lit bar. Shrouded in smoke and mystery, she recalls a long ago era. This painting is part of a series of portraits of women of the 1920's and 1930's. From flappers to starlets, I am very inspired by this glamorous and classic era. I kept the brushstrokes and edges soft, melting the figure into her hazy surroundings. This kind of dark, glazed oil painting is especially difficult to photograph without a lot of glare. I tried to capture it from various directions to provide a reasonably accurate sense of the overall painting.

I have been drawing and making art in some form since I was four years old. I was born in Washington DC but, as the daughter of an American diplomat, spent much of my childhood in Japan, Korea, and Hawaii. I studied art at Parsons School of Design and afterwards traveled to Europe to learn from the masterpieces in the great museums of London, Paris, Rome and Florence. I studied oil painting at a private atelier in Lisbon and had my first solo exhibit there. My work is in numerous collections throughout the United States and Europe. I currently reside in Arlington Virginia, just across the river from Washington DC.
