I am Thomas, a Brisbane-based abstract artist, currently residing in Australia after immigrating from South Africa in 2018 with my family. With over two decades of experience as an architect, I have now transitioned into the world of minimalistic mixed-media art. My artwork is a fusion of geometric abstraction and nature-inspired elements, drawing from both my architectural background and my surroundings. The convergence of art and architecture is at the heart of my creations, showcasing pure, clean geometries intertwined with rough textures and tonal color schemes. Through an intuitive process, I layer form, color, and texture to unveil new interconnectedness within each piece. Embracing experimentation, I explore various mediums and materials in my art practice, including painted timber collages. Inspired by the natural world around me, I predominantly work with muted colour palettes that evoke landscapes while incorporating notions of time, memory, and connection.
