Karen Lehmann and Simone Lehmann are graduate designers and artists since 2004. The sisters have been working as freelance designers, artists and as art directors in Cologne and Berlin for over 25 years. They founded their Lousissyartsister Project label with a focus on painting in 2019. Their acrylic paintings combine graphic elements with intuitive free and abstract painting. In 2019 Karen and Simone Lehmann started their sister project 'lousissyartsister' and experience the creative process in pictures that complement or repel each other. This can be seen in the painting process or individual pieces of canvas are combined together by both sisters. It's about the composition of the surfaces within the surface, about the interaction of surfaces with each other, about the effect of shape and color, about the combination of harmony and disharmony. Perspective or figurative elements hardly play a role: the images are created by juxtaposing harmonious and disharmonious elements, of various structures such as surfaces, circles, lines, which have their origin in fleeting glimpses of the patchy city, at the same time dark and bright. Abstract motifs from torn corners, remains of stickers and decay are used - with blurring. All of this is reassembled like a collage.
