"YELLOW HOUSE- HEIGHTS AND TERRACES" Painting

This work was inspired by the changing Barbadian Landscape and the fact that more and more land is being used for construction and housing developments. This means that space for locals is now becoming a scarce commodity and as persons live closer and closer together the impact of this creates not only cramped living spaces, as locals are being forced to develop inland because of large project developments catering for tourism along most of the coast area of Barbados, but also add to the development of other social problems because of these developments. Thus, there is always a price to pay for progress as our Heights and Terraces come under threat based on our still present post colonial triangular social and class structure.
