Made in my studio in Breda, The Netherlands.
‘Yggdrasill’ is a painting in the Mythological series.

I put the paint on the canvas in active gestures, like I'm dancing. That gives me the feeling of freedom, something what is possible through art and what I appreciate in the arts.
These canvasses are adventures, in which the mind can wander and the eye is wondering.
The paintings are also very personal and have a strong connection with my life, my feelings and thoughts, at that moment.

In the ancient mythological stories of Northern Europe ,Yggdrasill is a tree that forms the world axis connecting different realities. A shaman can reach from our human world, in the middle, to the underworlds or to the heavens.
That is a meditative yet dynamic process. Symbolized by animals like the horse

I try to find a universal mythological image, interpreted in a personal way of painting, to represent my personal story.
