This is from a series of paintings which are characters from a fictional movie/play/theatre that came from my imagination. It explores the psyche around themes of sensuality, sexuality, duality, power through allure and the 'masks' we adorn in our 'real lives' which are not all that seems on the surface. The characters of 'Instagram' and Tik Tok and what we devise and create the illusion of perfect lives, curated online. These characters I have invented are set against a black backdrop giving it a little bit more drama and more about the subject being the centre of the universe. Quite hard to photograph black background as well the gold paint. Fiona Maclean was chosen as an ‘Artist to watch’ and amongst a strong emerging talent of Artists in the ‘One to Watch’ series released by Saatchi Art. I am a New Zealand born Painter and Visual Artist currently based in Bondi Beach, Sydney, Australia. After studying Art, Design and Production in New Zealand & Australia I continued my studies in Fine Art and Painting at Parsons School of Art (The New School) in New York City. A family tragedy cut my studies short in New York where I had to move back to Australia. I was chosen as an Artist to watch and amongst a strong emerging talent of Artists in the 'One to Watch' series released by Saatchi.
