Zoom out Painting

anitas is a recurring theme throughout the history of art. It was especially popular in still lifes from 16th and 17th century Dutch art. Through the use of skulls, bubbles and other symbolic elements, the artists were reminding the observers of the ephemeral, transient nature of life. In the past few months, life has changed a lot for most of us. In a world that was flooded by certainties, all of a sudden our own reality became frail. I got the idea for "Zoom Out" one day, out of the blue, while I was thinking about how feeble our sense of reality - twisted, torn and bent by our very own digital shelters - has become. So why not tell a painted story of the ephemerality of our reality?
