I am influenced by many past and present artists, but my environment and the visual stimulation of all that is around me is my greatest influence. With each piece I begin with random, automatic marks and build from there. Painting is a joyful though often difficult experience which gives me the format to express my passion for color and its relationship to form and texture.

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I am influenced by Richard Diebenkorn and Cy Twombly as many Ab X artists, but my environment and the visual stimulation of all that is around me is my greatest influence. My primary source for my work is the marks I add to the surface whether it is a canvas or plate. All else evolves from there, the texture and color, movement, and depth. I don't always have something specific in mind, just a feeling or emotion that often evolves as the meaning begins to surface.

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Karleen’s work is a continuation of her infatuation with line as a force and direction for movement as well as communication. The energy and expression in a simple line or stroke dynamically draws your eye from one place to another guiding the viewer to see it for its own beauty as it directs and manipulates the color and texture around it. In her most recent work she uses the automatic stroke or mark as a form of quasi literal communication which can neither be read nor understood.
