acrylic and oil paint on cotton canvas. My first idea for this series was to work on a duck canvas. Unlike the linen I usually prepare myself, cotton canvas has a surface that allows me to work in the way of drawing and watercolour. For this one I started with the different stains, after what I detailed the face, as I usually do, with oil paint. The ink spots and lines evoke for me in an abstract way a kind of incantation. The entire surface is prepared for the good conservation of the artwork, the unpainted areas are protected by varnish to avoid dirt. The linen is mounted on a wood stretchers and is ready to hang. It will be shipped very well protected in bubble film and strong cardboard, accompanied by its certificate of authenticity..

Marta Grassi is an Uruguayan artist living in France. Her work is imbued with the imagery of South America and the magical realism of its literature, populated by imaginary characters, most often women. These women, shamans, fairies or witches are strong and powerful and appear to us in an environment just evoked, going towards abstraction. They stare at the spectator and seem to question him. The viewer is free to interpret the intention of this gaze on him.
