Art Description

Painting: Enamel, Gouache, Acrylic, Spray Paint, Oil on Other.

This work is a formal abstract painting, in other words, an abstract painting that is concerned with things like space and light while maintaining the two dimensional identity of pure abstraction. The colors and shapes are informed by the vernacular language of graphic design and sign painting- I find this to be an interesting modality, the synthesis of fine and applied arts.
The piece is comprised of segments of shaped panel that have been painted and collaged with painted paper and canvas, with seams left conspicuous for the purpose of unifying a very broad range of color, motif and mark-making.
