The small painting "Landscape/Moonrise" shows an intimate mountain landscape. A mountain ridge is reflected in a serene tarn, while the dark blue sky marks the rise of the moon. The artwork captures a tranquil, almost magical atmosphere in which the earth and the cosmos come together. The subtle colors and limited size of the painting invite the viewer to pay attention to the beauty of nature and the wonder of the night sky, while evoking a sense of serenity and wonder.

As a visual artist I am always looking for ways to express my vision of the world around me. nature is a constant source of inspiration. I get new ideas during my walks through the high mountains and vast forests of Europe. Nature, especially the forest, also plays the leading role in my recent work. we behold a collection of trees, or at least what could pass for that. the 'trees' are not painted realistically. we also recognize shapes that suggest branches, but nowhere distinguish leaves. the emphasis is on the light source coming from one of the corners and the orange dots that seem to dance through the dark forest like fireflies. This light source is important: it tries to entice the viewer to come closer and become part of the work of art. the idea of two opposing sources of light and energy, the sun and fire, is an important element in my work. by juxtaposing these two elements, I invite the viewer to reflect on the role of these forces in our lives and our current ecosystem. it is an invitation to reflect on current events. The forest also plays a role in the series 'cabin in the woods'. we see sparsely lit houses, solitary in the forest. the light, turned on indoors, illuminates the windows. the trees seem to embrace the houses and an undefined light from above illuminates the structures. is it the moon, a spotlight? who knows. the scene is a call to reflection for the viewer; what could be happening behind the walls of the remote houses? I consciously do not provide answers in my works of art. I want to stimulate the viewer's imagination and give them the space to give their own meaning to what they see. For me, art is a way to ask questions and look for answers, not to give them.
