The definitions of “Chimera” is what began the exploration into this series of works; Chimera: 1. : an imaginary monster compounded of incongruous parts 2: : an illusion or fabrication of the mind; especially : an unrealizable dream “Chimera” is an exploration into the contrasting of colors and subjects in order to begin a new narrative within the works respectively. When seen together the division of the works carries through them all and adds to the symmetry and tension referenced in the juxtaposition of each, while tying them together through equal size and placement. The works within “Chimera” are meant to begin and continue conversations with the viewer about social norms, idolatry, tension and balance.
