Vietnam
Phung Wang is a contemporary Vietnamese artist whose practice reinterprets traditional Vietnamese folk imagery through minimalist composition, geometric abstraction, and cubist spatial sensibilities. Rooted in the cultural memory of Vietnam, her paintings explore the subtle relationship between heritage, structure, and emotion. Drawing deeply from the visual language of Vietnamese folk art, Wang distills symbolic forms into refined contemporary compositions that feel at once timeless and distinctly modern. In Wang’s practice, tradition is not preserved as nostalgia, but reimagined as a living visual language. Through carefully balanced geometry, restrained palettes, and rhythmic spatial construction, her works create a quiet tension between simplicity and emotional depth. Phùng Wang has exhibited extensively in Vietnam and internationally, including exhibitions in Thailand, Germany, and the Netherlands. Her works are held in private collections across the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Her work has developed a strong following among international collectors, particularly in the United States, where its distinctive synthesis of Vietnamese cultural heritage and contemporary abstraction continues to resonate.
