About The Artwork
Unfair and lovely is a campaign that calls out colourism and discrimination darker skinned people face. It's an ongoing project for me where most of the people I paint are different shades of dark skin. It is important for people to see people that look like them in popular culture. Since I started painting these skin tones I have encountered comments such as are you representing mud? It's too dark, The skin should be a much lighter tone only then will your painting pop. Just like dark skinned people, these paintings to get told they're too dark.
