About the Artist

Mehri Hakimi-Fard

Germany

My name is Mehri Hakimi Fard, born in Isfahan / Iran in 1953. As a child, I was fascinated by my father's art. As a craftsman, he implemented the ornaments, decorations and colors typical of Persia in bowls, vessels etc. made of brass, silver and copper.

At first I painted myself for several years. Then I attended various workshops, among others with Thmas Martin, at the Frankfurt painting school, Petra Ruchay-Nowak and Peter Feichter, whose painting technique interested, inspired and strongly influenced me the most.

With my painting style, I combine the culture of my home country with western art culture. I let myself be inspired by the situations, my perceptions and impressions. Through my experience with different painting materials and painting techniques, I developed my own painting technique by mixing the different techniques. I call it the "figurative plastic cracletechnique". For this I use filler with crackle technique. This results in abstract figurative two / three-dimensional paintings `sculptures on canvas`, which are predominantly in large format. My frequent motifs are animals and oriental vases.

In addition, I paint people, landscapes, objects and still lifes in colorful pictures. I use acrylic paints for painting and, in addition to brush, spatula and sponge techniques. Sand and filler are also used.
