Indian Field Painting

This work was inspired a documentary on Native American history. A bright moonscape caps this glowing field of Indian summer. The generational richness of native land constrained by a pale, relentless sky. Technique : Painted on metal, the light in the field is achieved by layering transparent oil paints and relying on the reflective surface for illumination. The field glows in the light and dims in low light. In contrast, the brightness of the sky is consistent, a product of opaque white pigments blended with blue, obstructing the metal surface.
