Do you know Kevin Schwantz?. Kevin was a charismatic and popular pilot in the golden age of the Moto GP (late 80s and early 90s). The first places were always played against his great rival Wayne Rainey, who for three consecutive years won the world championships. In the final stage of 1993 championship Kevin was broadly first, but a crash in Donington GP caused him to lose many points. In Brno GP was forced to overcome Rainey for the remaining races of the year because were favourable to his rival, however Rainey made a flawless race, relegating Kevin again to a secondary position. This painting tries to reflect the chagrin of Kevin after the race. Surprisingly, at the next GP at Misano, Rainey suffered a tragic accident and was left out of the races, Kevin wins that year his first world title. As a result of the accident, Rainey was paraplegic and that affect strongly to Kevin, lowered their level of competence and retiring two years later. A small detail in this composition is the abbreviation of its main sponsor (Lucky Strike). Lucky was unfair nickname that Kevin was named for the way he got the championship. I use brush and airbrush for realistic touch and use mainly black ivory and white mixed with vermillion and lemon yellow. Usually use Winsor & Newton, Schmincke and Pebeo acrylic paint.

Born and raised in Chile. I didn't have an artist's influence but had a strong motorcycling passion thanks my grandpa. He was a known biker in the town and introduced me to the motorcycles, like all his sons and grandchildren. As a kid I lived on my bicycle, clipping a trading card, or cards, onto the frame to clap against the spokes of my bike was my deep-throated muffler. I lived in Spain in the 80's, relocating to Santiago de Chile in the late 90's. After a lot of Hondas, I bought my first Harley and I fell in love with the chrome reflex. I began to see things from a different perspective and I started pursuing a way to reveal this feeling at that time. I took again the pencil in order to try to capture this feeling in the chrome covers of my Harley. I’ve used a variety of mediums such water colors, oil and finally acrylic on canvas and air brush. I expect that my search for a good chrome reflex will be a fine experience for the viewers, but I also expect that this searching never ends, because the life is a journey and I'm enjoying the ride.
