The drawings gathered from my walks and explorations form raw material for further explorations in the studio, research for development of more fully formed ideas and artwork. The resulting pieces for a non-objective narrative of sensory experiences and often take the form of long scroll-like pieces on paper. Others take a more traditional form on stretched canvas or wood panel. Although the occasional botanical element might be inferred, this work is intended to be completely non-objective and expressive.

Canada
I was born in Canada in 1953 and currently work in my home studio in Vancouver BC. I began my working life in medicine but had always been drawn to a career in visual arts. In 1993, I started learning and working as an artist full-time. I have a deep desire to paint non-objectively, allowing colour and mark-making to emanate from somewhere inside my body other than my conscious self. This intuitive practice often seems careless and haphazard, but is actually passionate and engaging.
