Rearranging Spaces Painting

It takes so much energy to get a painting where I want to, for me to get pleased, just because I’m asking questions. The ego stands between me and the painting, it turns into a fight between me being honest with myself and to satisfy myself pure aesthetically. When I’m giving up, and I don ́t have any thought left, only then do me and my painting melt together, and the painting that stands before me leads me forward to the next one. I don’t want to force a message into my works, to much explanation kills my interest in them. My work as an artist isn’t about producing different objects, it is about seeing the paintings, as they are. It is about refusing to give my ego what it wants and letting go. It is about the specific moment. I want to find acceptance for everything trough out my paintings. I paint on masonite, canvas or different kinds of fabric. I use oil, acrylics, pigment, spray, gesso, wall paint, crayons, pastels, pens and markers. What I paint with means a lot, I’m using everything from new and old brushes to scrapes, sticks, combs, palette knives, bits of paper and small pieces of fabric that’s been lying around on the floor for some time. I like to experiment with unexpected elements, like using loads of water in my acrylics or paint with pieces of fabric to create a contrast between that and something very strict. Creating a balance between chaos and perfection. Every element in my paintings craves it’s own life. I don ́t see why I should change anything done in my works, because I want to find acceptance for what is and what I have created. I want to create relations among surfaces, which then creates depth, spatiality, perspective and movement. I explore the colours possibilities and expressions, and I get inspired by seeing them meet on the canvas. I tend to use colours that are unexpected, that aches when they’re placed against each other or colours that I am not that comfortable with. When I paint, I’m shifting between taking quick decisions in the moment with having great talks with my ongoing work, I ask them what ́s supposed to happen next. I let my paintings rest around me in a couple of days or so before i know if they’re done or not, I’m listening to them. Before they are done it feels like they demand something more, a painting is done when the conversation shuts down. In my everyday life I do a lot of meditation, it’s the meditation that leads me forward in my work. I’m experiencing meditation and painting the same way. In the meditative room I’m released from time and space, there’s no valuations or expectations. Something giving me inspiration is to sit in the environment I’m in. I look around trying to find creativity and I get inspired by what already is. Like seeing colour combinations in peoples clothing, two containers standing side by side by accident or cars parked next to each other. I see shapes and meetings created by nature in ice, trees, moss, everything. When I loose my own creative energy, I sometimes seek inspiration in other artists works, like Cy Twombly, Chris Martin and Richard Tuttle” -Fagerström
