This series of colorful paintings create a balance between expressive abstraction and figurative form, while the arrangement somehow suggests the notion of dream-like states. The emerging images are the unexpected result of an attempt to alter intangible notions into an energizing visual experience. The room has created intrigue for me, as a concept, throughout this series. With the idea of juxtaposing privacy, against that which is public, deep meanings of personal items and belongings, as well as the feeling gained, like in a certain sound, are all an aesthetic cradle in stimulating my creative considerations. The human figure is represented by whimsical female characters who sit comfortably in their private space; resting, contemplating, dreaming, almost meditating and unaware of our presence. Lyrical and somehow primitive at the same time, these enigmatic figures aim to capture the unique and complex relationships individuals have within their own lives. These pictures originate from personal experience yet also address universal, social and humanitarian ideas of communication and self-identity. The body does not come as an incongruity to the space around it, nor does it exist apart: but together they blend forming a whole new entity. The events all take place in a moment of interlude from our known concept of time. Throughout this series, there is an expressionistic urge that generates movement and makes a playful mood out of this tailored chaos. The vibrant, full colors are strangely empathetic to the digital aesthetics of recent years, and the new media culture is celebrated throughout them. It is a timeline that allows us to intuitively explore a wide variety of possible interpretations. They are appealing invitations for others to project their own stories upon them. In an increasingly fluid and complex world, new tangible relationships have been formed and this is what I am willing to capture.
