"Tropical Forest near to Urania Community" Painting

In the past few years I have had the opportunity to attend health brigades in the Colombian jungle, particularly in the Vaupes region. I was meant to take photographies for scientific purposes, regarding a disease that causes blindness. In parallel, I had the priviledge of visiting, experiencing and feeling these wonderful forests. I was already passionate about painting nature, painting gardens and parks, but these forests caused a larger impact on me due to the light, silence and magic they have. The rhythm imposed by tree trunks mark the spatiality in this landscape. As for the color, it is a challenge for me to recreate in each painting a different way to achieve greens; particularly in this landscape there was a very deep color, contrasting with the shades of white and gray of the trunks. Oil paintings allow me to work on transparencies and many layers of paint allow states of reflection, gradually revealing images and sensations. I try to use different styles from the impressionist strokes to the photographic realism in the same picture, because I enjoy being carried away by my instinct, inspiration and mood.
