About The Artwork

This is one of a series of paintings depicting several different sports. The objective is to emphasize movement and the competiveness of the sport. Okay, I admit it. I am an Auburn graduate. This painting is on archival grade drafting mylar. The painting is mounted on tempered masonite hardboard with a hanging strip on the back. The overall size, including the mounting board, is approximately 6” wider and 7” taller than the size of the painting itself. It can be immediately hung unframed or, if you prefer, a more formal frame can be added. This is a one-of-a-kind, original work of art and no authorized copies will ever be made. The painting is signed on the front and has a signed certificate of authenticity on the back.

I am an architect by education, and profession. I have practiced architecture for over three decades. A good deal of my experience as an artist developed from doing architectural plans and illustrations. In addition to my architectural work, I have always enjoyed producing works of "visual art". It has provided a wonderful counterpoint to the precise work involved in architectural drawings: the highly precise vs. the "free and spontaneous". I still work with the same media that I have used in architectural work: India ink, graphite pencil and acrylic paint on archival quality mylar film. I like for my work to show either emotion or action.... Occasionally both. Emotion is usually captured in a close-up portrait or perhaps full figure drawings. Action is depicted in dance or sporting events. Other than that, I don't have any deep philosophical ideas about my art except that I want to produce works that people will enjoy and be proud to have hanging on their walls.
