About The Artwork
1. Karl Bodybuilder This is a collaboration between the model and myself. Karl had prepared for a competition and wanted to record his level of fitness. He subsequently qualified for the World Finals in Birmingham in May 2020. We had worked together 20 years previously and had lost sight of each other for that time so we knew we could create something special. Shot on Canon EOS 5D in BW and with a tint added. Printed on Fine Art BARYTA 325gsm, fine density and fine grey tones, semi gloss.

Martinoli was born in Switzerland and left at 19 years old to relocate in London. She was always passionate about photography and studied the medium between 1976-1979. She has been working as a freelance photographer since the 1980's and obtained a BA (hons) in 2005. Her work has been extensively published in Books and Magazines both in the UK and abroad. Her genre of photography pervades throughout her work and her specialisation resides in the Aesthetic of the Male Form. Her inspiration derives from many sources; Michelangelo to Mapplethorpe, not forgetting Richard Avedon, Herb Ritts, Helmut Newton, Andreas Bitesnich, Dianora Niccolini and Grace Lau among others. www.michelemartinoli.com
