About The Artwork

How many times have you walked down the street, your eyes crossed with the ones of the other people, who haven’t ever tried to understand through a look, to look at the person in front of him and try to understand …who is he ? what they want to say? Is clear that if you meet someone armed with a photo camera, your expressions suddenly change, there isn’t more complicity between both, we are observed, and we try to hide, behind conventional expressions. With this project, I try to be not the photographer, but a common person, who walks on the street, there isn’t any photo camera in the foreground, only the eyes. With my photo camera resting on my stomach, I take what ‘really happens, not a pose of the moment, but a desire to communicate. With this technique I have tried to highlight the true expression, you can ‘have a simple look with passers. The people you meet on the street, have so many stories to tell, even those small daily happenings, you can feel what they really would like to tell you. With this project,” Amsterdam soul view”, I’m trying to the true essence of people, from a perspective very close, that comes in contact with something personal, like showing the expression of the soul.

born in Naples (1972) under the sign of the sagittario, passing childhood and adolescence in a not easy neighbourhood of the city, where living is not always easy and it's still more difficult to emerge. Since he was child he remains fascinated by the art, in particular that kind of metropolitan art that, through the pictures resumed by his objective, tell us about ourselves, our days, our life. His Naples is a full city of great energy and creativity but, unfortunately, with insufficient opportunities for who wants to be asserted in 'artistic' field, 'not rigorously traditional'. Max, lover of his job, following his dreams and his instinct, does not hesitate to leave Italy and to move himself before in Europe and then in the USA in order to deepen its knowledge and his professional experience. . Inspired by English fashion mood, then he moves to London, where his 'various fantasy' captures teams of creatives. Max, beyond fashion photography, loves a particular type of reportage, that one regarding social denunciations, and he engages to tell sometimes difficult truths, always remaining far away from cases exploitation, rather trying as much as possible to discover the better side of the things. Reportages 'the Angel' and 'Living Room' express better than many words what Max Ballatore loves to tell with his objective.
