Don Cayetano Ccanahuire is an Andean priest and has always lived in the highest of the four "comunidades campesinas" near the Q'eswachaka bridge. The ancient large network of roads built by the Incas, Qapac-ñan (inca trail), crossed the Andes in every direction, and also met with insuperable rivers, such as the Apurimac in Q'eswachaa area, in the southwestern part of the department of Cusco. The solution was a suspension bridge made ​​with q'chu, an herb that grows as subtle as resistant in the area. Guardians of ancestral knowledge, the four communities in the area continue to rebuild every year the Inca suspension bridge, which is subject to rapid wear. For several decades an iron bridge has rendered obsolete the suspense, but as often happens in the Peruvian Andes, this is not practical reason. Rebuilding the bridge annually in vegetable fiber means safeguarding indigenous cultural identity, even more so now that the whole Qapac-ñan has become a World Heritage Site. To rebuild the bridge, which is consumed in a year with the weather, it starts with the collection of the raw material that is shaken to remove impurities, a simple gesture that Don Cayetano Ccanahuire seems to give a touch of solemnity.
