Some Areas Of East And Southern Africa Have ‘White Camps’. They Are Basically Guarded Areas Where Tourist Buses Stop During ‘Safari’. This Particular Location was spectacular at the time (but is now home to twenty competing camps, all playing loud music). During my stay at the beach, sleeping on the Land RTover roof I became friends with ‘Michael Jackson’, my guard. At night, I built a log fire on the sand and cooked dinner, boiled water for tea. The Massai enjoyed his mug of tea, and returned the washed cup by placing it on my vehicle during the night. We became friends, and it was interesting to see how normal African’s feared the powerful Massai. When we walked together, other types of African’s would ‘show respect’ by crossing to the other side of the street.
