About The Artwork

From the Series // Japan, 2009 Captured while on a three month journey throughout Japan, following the blossoming of the Sakura [Cherry Blossoms]. This bamboo forest holds a quiet respite and was the ultimate 'forest bath' I've ever experienced. A cherished solitude and a private space in an illustrious environment.

Currently living in San Clemente, California, Kerry is a large-scale photo based artist, originally from Canada. With a conceptual approach, she absorbs remembrance into her daily practice with a focus on highly detailed and colorful aesthetics. In 2011, she lost her brother Stuart. This inspired a life-long devotion to creating epic imagery to meditate on and consolidate her loss as well as propel tributes to him into tangible visuals. Her translation of longing into allurement emerge as large scale, often mystically surreal, pigment prints. Her work explores the ever evolving, consequential, perpetual flow of nature and the elaborately beautiful. Her background as a modern dancer and traditional painter is evident in her elegant, choreographic approach to complicated elements. Her seamless illustrations are made up of often hundreds of images and layers, painted into a distinctly effortless composition. Kerry’s work was first published in Magenta Foundation’s 2006 Carte Blanche, a book of 200 of Canada’s best photographers. She has since been included perpetual publications of Magenta’s Flash Forward, celebrating the best emerging photographers from Canada, USA and UK. She had her television debut on Fashion Television’s documentary “Naked in the House” in 2004. After graduating with an Honors BFA, she was invited to an artist residency in Canserrat, Spain to further develop her artistic practice. Most recently, an image from her acclaimed series “Water Brother: Dreams I Wish I Had” was installed as a large scale print in the Financial District of Toronto as an 8 foot x 12 foot piece. Among other awards, she has been featured in Applied Arts, Graphis and Communication Arts.
