Barry's Metals Photograph - Limited Edition of 100

My favorite places in Chicago are the ones that live up the reputation as the "city of big shoulders." Residents know the scrap metal collectors who work their way through our alleys, picking up discarded metal items that can be taken for repurposing and recycling. Barry's Metals, on Cermak in Pilsen, is one of the businesses where collectors can bring these items for reuse. As I took this picture, I heard a man on a loudspeaker ask a fork lift operator inside the garage, "What's that person doing?" The fork lift operator replied that I was taking a picture, and the suspicious loudspeaker voice said, "Why?" Perhaps he thought I was investigating the possibility of stolen items being at the facility, given the posted rules? In any case, I got my shot and moved on.
