Mauritius
Born in Mauritius, Catherine Li spent more than 20 years in Montreal studying and working as a Designer in the fashion industry before coming back to her native island with her family. With this return to her roots she rediscovers with pleasure the colours and senses of her native island and it is quite naturally that she picks up her passion for photography. She tries to capture the different aspects of Mauritius while approaching issues that touches her deeply such as the rapid urbanisation and the destruction of the natural resources around her. Her "Nature City Series" which consists of layers of Nature photos superimposed over city photos, pledges for a return of Nature in the cities. She is also passionate about capturing the essence of the Mauritian experiences, removing all the superfluous distractions and seizing the intangible feeling of the moment. She participates regularly in different collective exhibitions in Mauritius with the MIAF or the Imaaya Gallery. Her "Nature City Series" that pledges a return of Nature in the City was published in , Apr.2020 Issue and a few articles on her works were published in the Weekend.
