Bullfight Arena in Seville. On my last day in Seville, I decided to watch a bullfight, And it’s probably one of the most exciting and shocking cultured experiences of Spain. The Spanish consider this an art form intimately linked with their country’s history and culture. Pressure groups attempt to lobby against bullfighting, yet the King of Spain himself has allegedly stated that the day the EU bans bullfighting is the day Spain leaves the EU. The sundown’s heat was melting down from 45°C (113°F), and apparently, this is the best time when the arena draws the most crowd. I got a seat just looking above the bull’s holding cage before being released into the arena. I have never thought they were so big, around 700kg of pure beastly demeanor trained to crush anyone on its way. The start is an uproar of blasting trumpets introducing this show. Tourists are all smiles at first, but as the show unfolds, they become less and less cheery or walkout from disgust. I saw this American tourist puke when the matador slices the dead bull’s ear off as a sign to establish his victory. All for the sake of Art! But despite this shocking culture, Seville offers the real deal. From the birth of Flamenco, amazing Spanish cuisine, and probably the most artistic city in Spain. Some Facts about Seville: *Population: 710,000 * It holds the monument and tomb to Christopher Columbus. * Many who visit a variety of cities in Spain saw that Seville is their favorite by far. * Seville gets approximately 3000 hours of sun a year. That’s around 320 days a year! Captured in 2003. Shot on film.

Edwin Datoc is a fine art photographer and filmmaker who is renowned for his striking cinematic imagery and portraiture, whose images capture an often surprising and spontaneous energy in even the most reserved and difficult subjects of fashion and culture. Born in the Philippines and raised in Australia from the age of eleven, his calling for photography didn't come until in his late twenties during his frustration working as an accountant. "It was a complicated transition to becoming a photographer, knowing you are giving up the financial stability. But I realise that life is a not dress rehearsal and to pursue what you are passionate about." Edwin’s creative projects has since taken him to more than eighty countries. His appreciation and familiarity with diverse cultures reflects a unique international perspective to his work. His influences and inspiration are varied from travel, design, architecture, music, art, cinema and literature. His command of narrative working in stark locations has led to editorial assignments for Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Marie Clare, Cosmopolitan, Esquire, and Tatler. He has photographed advertising campaigns for Costume National, Esprit, L’Oreal, and has created striking films for Landmark HK, G2000, Kim Robinson Cosmetics, Agent Provocateur and Fiorucci. He is active in the fields of both fine arts and assignment work. Edwin currently lives between New York, Hong Kong and Sydney.
