About The Artwork

Limited Edition of 10 Pigment print on museum quality Exhibition Fibre (SOLD AS PRINT ONLY) Delivered with signed and embossed certificate of authenticity -------------------- From the Series // Dreams I Wish I Had which is a continuation from Water Brother, dedicated to my brother Stuart, who died in 2001. I’ve learned to rearrange my longing for my departed brother, by celebrating his existence through epic imagery. I now see him in all forms of waters’ change. He is part of the cycle, a body gone back to the molecular beginnings we all come from. He is a shape-shifter and these are my visual meditations. Stuart and I had an obsession for water and grew up part time near a river. After a near-drowning incident together when we were kids, our infatuation became strangely more tenacious. We vowed to deny fear, moving forward and remember our allegiance to and infatuation for our faithful play space. This work explores the fantasy of flight. Provocation of movement, forward motion, maneuvering above and past obstruction. A semblance of floating moments, hanging in a stop motion moment of nostalgic desire. Part of the continuum. Each piece is made up of multiple layers and combinations of captures, sculpted together to create a larger story. Each detailed nuance and gesture of cloud and waters’ surface is a character. They are carefully painted into a choreographed, waterscape dance. Intended for immensely large scale, an emphasis on highly detailed aesthetics seduces the viewer into the feeling of flight. The triptych of oceanscapes align when hung strategically as do the diptych of skyscapes. This particular piece is formed from images captured on every flight traveling between Hermosa Beach, California and Toronto in one year. I booked window seats on the best side of the plane and at the best time for optimal shooting. // All sizes in the edition available: - 60" x 60" edition of 5 - 42" x 42"" edition of 7 - 24" x 24" edition of 10

Currently living in San Clemente, California, Kerry is a large-scale photo based artist, originally from Canada. With a conceptual approach, she absorbs remembrance into her daily practice with a focus on highly detailed and colorful aesthetics. In 2011, she lost her brother Stuart. This inspired a life-long devotion to creating epic imagery to meditate on and consolidate her loss as well as propel tributes to him into tangible visuals. Her translation of longing into allurement emerge as large scale, often mystically surreal, pigment prints. Her work explores the ever evolving, consequential, perpetual flow of nature and the elaborately beautiful. Her background as a modern dancer and traditional painter is evident in her elegant, choreographic approach to complicated elements. Her seamless illustrations are made up of often hundreds of images and layers, painted into a distinctly effortless composition. Kerry’s work was first published in Magenta Foundation’s 2006 Carte Blanche, a book of 200 of Canada’s best photographers. She has since been included perpetual publications of Magenta’s Flash Forward, celebrating the best emerging photographers from Canada, USA and UK. She had her television debut on Fashion Television’s documentary “Naked in the House” in 2004. After graduating with an Honors BFA, she was invited to an artist residency in Canserrat, Spain to further develop her artistic practice. Most recently, an image from her acclaimed series “Water Brother: Dreams I Wish I Had” was installed as a large scale print in the Financial District of Toronto as an 8 foot x 12 foot piece. Among other awards, she has been featured in Applied Arts, Graphis and Communication Arts.
