A series of portraits of the most assiduous visitors of a busy square in the heart of Malasaña, one of the liveliest districts of Madrid. I portrayed the ones I consider to be our truest, most faithful and nice companions, trying to transmit and exalt their great dignity, pride, spirit, sensitivity, character and diversity. The approach was that of classic portraiture. I was inspired by the two great August Sander and Irving Penn: look straight in to the camera, static pose, black and white. I would end with the sentence of P.G. Wodehouse that used as introduction in the beautiful Elliott Erwitt’s book Dog Dogs: we all have plenty to say about dogs, but very seldom are we allowed to say it! Limited original medium size edition, 1 of 5 printed on Hanemühle Fine Art Baryta 325gr. paper. The limited edition photographs are signed by the artist, numbered and come with the certificate of authenticity Digigraphie by Epson. Image size: 27x35cm. Paper size: 30x40cm.

A Swiss with a Milanese accent who lives, for the moment, at the feet of a volcano: Catania! Alessandra Saccà studied Photography at IED in Milan, city where she lived and worked for 19 years. She started her carrier working for two years as a professional black & white printer in two different important labs in Milan. This experience, that she always thought was fundamental for her formation, brought her to get to know the true essence of Photography! After this experience she started to work as a photographer mainly in the field of fashion: she collaborated with different Italian and foreigner magazines and produced catalogues, look-books and some campaigns. In 2010, tired of the city of stress and pollution, she moved to Madrid for one year. In the city of the movida, besides learning Castellano, she started to expose above all her black & white photographs, presenting them with particular mountings. In April 2011 she landed in Sicily to continue her work in this fascinating and challenging island! In addition to her commercial work Alessandra through the years has worked on personal projects. Her photos are simple, minimal and with almost no manipulation. She prefers natural light and gives a lot of importance at the construction of the image, crops are almost not allowed.
