When making collages I merely shift the context of the visual elements. It's a simple but very effective way to disrupt our viewing patterns. For me, seeing the familiar in an unfamiliar way is a real pleasure. I use old photo's because they have a similar property. They depict what once was reality, but as time went by it became a window to a distant world. Despite the distance between the depicted reality and the reality of the viewer, the photo retains its credibility as a an image of 'what once was real'.

As a young creative artist, Tim Eshuis (1972) is captivated by the mysterious element of analog photography. Shoot a picture and only later see in the dark room which image appears. An almost magical process. From his studies (art academy St. Joost and Post St. Joost (MA)) Tim works as an all-round photographer. The mystery of photography is gone nowadays, but Tim gets the same satisfaction from creating with innovative cameras and the contemporary darkroom: Photoshop.
