About The Artwork

In the dissolved paintings and photographs we reflect ourselves with our uncertainty, with the instability of change, and with the rediscovery of an invisible and unspeakable dimension of which we are part. We have abandoned metaphysics and the sacred for some centuries now and today we have rediscovered the urgency of reconnecting with this dimension. This portrait expresses the impossibility of unambiguous identification and the possibility of opening ourselves to wider dimensions of awareness. Living in two worlds, the visible and the invisible.

My main themes are: identity and memory. Through my works I explore the indefinability of the human condition, the sense of identity, otherness as an inevitable passage for a deep connection with the self. I use various techniques: photography, painting, drawing, illustration, video, music, sculpture and writing. Since 2014 I also make sculptures. The knot, one of my recurring themes, has become for me the emblem of the imponderable, the unfathomable. It is not known what it contains, what it blocks or what it can free once dissolved. A knot can remember something that we don't want to forget or that we are afraid of losing. It is the mystery that has not yet been revealed. The unknown. The indefinite image has been the essence of my poetics for many years. Nothing can be taken for granted, nothing can be defined. Images acquire multiple identities. A play of interpretations is often desired. The subject of the image evokes something else. In dissolved paintings and photographs we reflect ourselves with our uncertainty, with the instability of change and with the rediscovery, finally, of an invisible and unspeakable dimension of which we are part. Together with my wife Alessandra we are engaged in spreading the themes of deep ecology through art events, stories and video art.
