About The Artwork
Dead Flowers is a collection of images taken in 2015. The objective was to photograph beautiful flowers in a dead and dying state. I sought to explore their aesthetic underbelly and to capture and discover new perspectives and textures which were beyond the obvious. I also sought to capture and uncover within the images, strange perspectives and textures and reincarnation. The components and elements of the composition, are simplicity, contrast colour,light, darkness and texture. The reincarnation is a metaphor of how life continues to permeate beyond death. The flowers are actual discarded chrysanthemums from a funeral The photograph is a signed limited edition image from a photo book entitled DEAD FLOWERS which I produced in 2015.
