An empty cafe in Southport, a large seaside town in Merseyside, England. Part of the series, 'DREAMLAND', made during the winter months in British seaside resorts which along with the beach holiday played a central part in the development of international tourism that, for good and ill, we (the Brits) gave to the world. The first resorts were in Whitby and Scarborough in North Yorkshire, around 1720, but the south east soon followed, notably in Margate and Brighton. Railways gave greater coastal access and resorts soon sprung up in Blackpool in the north west and Weymouth in the south west. From the 1960’s, with competition from overseas holidays and the growth of the package tour, the British resort has found it increasingly difficult to survive and has fallen into some decline. Also offered in a smaller print size limited edition. Total number of edition 8. 24” x 16” / 61cm x 41cm (w x h). Please ask for currently available edition number and print price.

I was born on a Tuesday at 10.40am in San Juan de Dios Hospital in Manila, the capital of The Philippines. As the old nursery rhyme goes, 'Tuesday's child is full of grace' - others can be the judge of that, but I do know that my love for travel began here. In 1977, I started freelancing as a photographer for publications in the UK and internationally and have become known for my environmental portraiture, interiors, architectural, travel and documentary photography. My work has been published in a number of magazines including: Conde Nast Traveler (US), Conde Nast Traveller (UK), Departures, Discover, Forbes, Fortune, GQ, Guardian Weekend, Harpers & Queen, House and Garden, Image, The Independent, The Independent on Sunday Review, Newsweek, Oxygen, Saga, The Observer, The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, Vanity Fair, Vogue, W, The Weekend Financial Times, The World of Interiors. For my gallery photography, I make limited edition single, diptych, triptych and multiple images, in colour and black and white.
